Bahnhofstrasse runs from Zurich Main Station down to Lake Zurich. The middle stretch around Paradeplatz is where the serious watch and jewellery houses sit. The street is pleasant to walk even if you buy nothing; it is more useful if appointments, language and a clear list come first.

- Swiss watch manufactures and jewellery houses — this is the reason most Gulf visitors come here, not the fashion chains.
- Globus and the remaining department-store floors for gifts, cashmere and last-minute extras without a boutique appointment.
- Historic chocolatiers for something you can carry on the plane. Confirm ingredients if you need a halal gift.
How we walk it
We start at the station, walk toward the lake, and keep Paradeplatz for the houses you actually want to enter. A weekday morning is quieter than Saturday.
